Warmup: Find the desk with your name on it and sit there. Fill out the card with the following information:

   Your parents'/guardians' name(s)

   Address (including town)

   phone numbers (home, work, cell)

Objective: SWBAT become familiar with the material requirements and academic expectations of this class by copying same; students will begin course with a short bio/interests quiz and read the first page of Lost and Found.

Homework: Write a brief autobiography.

Warmup: List two good experiences and one bad experience that you had at Lackey High School yesterday.

Objective: SWBAT have initial fluency assessed by reading the first chapter of Lost and Found aloud and silently; compose a brief summary of same.

W/U: Describe Tara from Lost and Found.

OBJ: SWBAT finish reading chapter 1 and complete quiz on same; review elements of literacy; list unfamiliar vocabulary words; compose a summary.

HW: Write a brief autobiography.

W/U: Finish or review Chapters 1 and 2 of Lost and Found.

OBJ: SWBAT complete initial assessment of comprehension and vocabulary skills by completing quiz on Lost and Found and checking same; review key elements of Literacy; increase awareness of individual reading skills by reading a non-fiction selection and completing a graphic organizer on same.

HW: The Piano Lesson exam

August 28

2nd, 6th, 8th pds.

W/U: List five methods of communication.

OBJ:  SWBAT increase awareness of individual reading skills by taking/reviewing quiz on Lost and Found and analyzing chapter 1 of same; review key concepts of Literacy and applying same to a poem from the HSA.

HW: None.

OBJ: SWBAT increase awareness of key elements of literacy and literature.
